Summary of all the
previous paragraph. |
Every year, billions of plastic waste are poured into the oceans. Plastic straws, grocery bags, so many plastics that are used by humanities. Researchers at the Algalita Marine Research Foundation documented an increase in plastic debris in the Central Pacific Gyre five-fold between 1997 and 2007, where the baseline in 1997 showed plastic pieces outnumbered plankton on the ocean surface 6:1. This of course impacts mostly for the marine dwellers. This essay will be discussing about why the oceans are filled with so many plastics and what solutions that can be taken in order to reduce the amount of it.
We are all agree that the main reason of the ocean is filled with plastic is, Humanities. The used of plastic nowadays are just too many. People aren’t aware enough about the serious danger of plastic when it decomposed. Plastic bags need a range of time atleast 20 years – 100 years to be fully decomposed. In the ocean, plastic bags can be mistaken by jellyfish by wildlife. This leads to the dangerous impacts for the animals that consumed the plastic, since then they will die from intestinal blockages. Worst, after the animal dies, it decays at a much faster rate than the bag. Once the animal has decomposed, the bag is released back into the environment, ready to be eaten by another misguided organism.
The most obvious solution to this problem is that human needs to reduce the amount of use of plastic. The ocean has already at its worst, the least thing that we can do is reduce the amount of the problem source itself, by reducing the capacity of plastic used. One example is that rather than using plastic bag for groceries, we could simply change it into paper bag that could also be re-used and more environmental-friendly. This also works for any kind of needs that usually use plastic for its bag.
In sum, the ocean nowadays is filled with so many plastic waste that are mostly caused by humans. To stop this issue, we could try to be more aware with this and reduce the amount of plastic used in our daily lives. That way, we could help reducing the amount of plastic bags that are poured into the oceans, and help save the marine dwellers lives.
