Summary.

Globalization has become one of the most influencial things that happened in this world. Globalization has affected so many aspects in everyday lives in every age, genders, and nations. It also affected a lot of things from food, culture, economy, industry, lifestyle, education, etc. This essay will be talking specifically on how globalization effects on women in Indonesia, starting from their Fashion Sense, lifestyle, and Liberty.

First of all, the fashion sense. Many years before, Indonesian women aren’t as free as they currently are in terms of expressing their clothes. Especially because Indonesia is one of a country that has a high respect of religion, Indonesian women aren’t actually allowed to wear daily clothes that are considered ‘too-much-to-see’. In terms of their daily clothes, Indonesian women are expected to wear a highly-covered clothes, and other than that would become a trending topic nearby their neighbourhood. But as globalization occurs, Indonesian women are starting to adapt the daily style from the other countries, and started to vary with so many daily clothes style, including the previous style that are controversial in the country. Nowadays, women are brave enough to wear a short pants and a tank-top to go out from their house.

Second is the Lifestyle. There are so many aspects that could be discussed regarding this topic, but this essay will only covered a very small portion, focusing on the mindset of urban-lifestyle. Before, Indonesian women couldn’t care less about how their skin look like, what colour their skintone is, or what kind of transportation that they take. Even most of the time, Indonesian women would walk their way into a certain place that they desire to go. However, adapting the other countries lifestyle, Indonesian women nowadays started to shift their mindset into thinking that they have to care too much about everything in order to achieve the urban-lifestyle standard. One of the most famous example that are still trending right now, is Skincare. There are no such thing as that in the before era, but since Globalization starts to hit Indonesia, mostly adapting from Korea, Indonesian women started to follow these lifestyle, and starts to buy so many products just for their face. They also has a standard that they have to be skinny, have an hour-glass body, and glowing-glass skin in order that achieve the lifestyle standard.

Lastly, in terms of Liberty. Before, Indonesian women are expected to be at home all the time, they don’t have to care too much about their education, or choosing their life-partner, they aren’t even allowed to find a job that are ‘made’ for men, etc. But since Globalization strikes all of the liberty, it could be said that it has affected women liberty in a huge amount of impact. Nowadays, Indonesian women can be seen as a politicians, as a manager, or any other high positions that seems to be impossible to be achieved by women in the past. Also, there can be seen so many women are united and keep demonstrate about ‘gender equality’ and women’s right. It is all part of the globalization that changed the mindset of the women in Indonesia.
There are still so many things that has changed over the century because of Globalization. Fashion, Lifestyle, and Liberty are only a small portion of it. But it can be concluded that Globalization plays a big role in terms of world-change, and create the life of Indonesian women into a better place.....or worst.
